Honeymoon (Sep 2021)

Stonehenge to Lands End

Day 1! This adventure honeymoon of ours has been in the planning stages for near on 16 months so it is safe to say that excitement was an understatement at 6am this morning!

We walked the dog round our boring, everyday streets, finished packing the car excitedly and headed over to Chiltern Motorhomes ready for the adventure to begin! After Michael went through all the techy bits and bobs about the van, essentially a crash course in being a captain, over a cup of tea we headed off with our adrenaline carrying us the 2 and a half hours to Stonehenge!

Stonehenge

We couldn’t have asked for a better drive, the sun was out, the roads were clear, truly perfect! We purchased our tickets and headed off on the half an hour walk to see the stones. It was a beautiful walk across fields and through a small shaded woods before we came across the stones.

If I’m being honest, I was a bit sceptical about doing Stonehenge, it felt a bit “touristy” and why would I want to see some rocks that are a few hundred years old, well I couldn’t have been more wrong, they were genuinely breathtaking and I would urge anyone to visit once!

You can’t take your dogs all that close to the stones due to the sheep in the fields surrounding, but they have put out benches and water bowls, Michael and I took it in turns to do the one way loop round the stones in order to look after Bentley! Also, if you don’t fancy the half an hour walk there and back you can take the coach, which I think is included in the price of your ticket, but again dogs can’t go on the coaches.

On to Land’s End

After finding a magnet in the gift shop, we set off for the second leg of our journey, the big one down to lands end! When we set off the sat nav said 3 and a half hours, unfortunately we must have been travelling at peak times as it took 4 and a half hours and we were truly exhausted by the time we made it to our campsite.

We stayed at Trevedra Farm, which was perhaps one of the best caravan/campsite we had ever stayed at! It has a shop on site and the facilities felt quite new and clean, but most important of all – a hot shower!

We got to the site just as the sun was setting, so we quickly parked up and headed on the coastal footpath, which would lead you down towards Sennen Cove, found a cosy spot and watched the sunset. It was perhaps one of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen and was a perfect end to the perfect day.

There’s more adventures to embark on tomorrow, stick around ✌🏼
