11 nights away in the caravan was about to begin! Excitement for an extended Michael and Zoe adventure was well and truly bubbling and had been for a while!
The plan; 6 nights in the Peak District and 5 nights in Mablethorpe. Essentially the best of both worlds; walks, mountains and caverns and then rest and relax by the beach (with me playing silly arcade games!)
After an Easter egg hunt with the family, we packed the last few remaining things, cross checked the van was secure, hitched up and away we went! After a fab Easter weekend, we were on our way for 11 days of fun and adventure.

The Boars Head
Our destination for this evening: The Boars Head Hotel, Draycott-in-the-Clay to meet Michaels aunt and uncle for dinner. Hopefully leaving the rain behind!
The hotel was a Caravan and Motorhome club site which was £20 per pitch, per night, which included electric. It had other facilities such as drinking water, waste water disposal, chemical waste disposal and use of the hotel toilets whilst it was open!
The site was in a prime location for us to have dinner with family, who live in Derbyshire, but also split the journey in two for us – the furthest we had towed was to Norfolk, so we were keen to break up the 3 and a 1/2 hour journey across two days (and start the holiday earlier).
We had also read some amazing reviews about the food at the hotel too!
The location worked so well for us and the drive was pretty simple (even for us!) up the M1, across the A50 and then finally the A515. Very well chosen and piloted by Michael! I was, of course, pro co-pilot!
We checked in, set up and it turned out we had the entire field to ourselves! We then headed over to the pub for a couple of drinks, dinner and a catch up.

Dinner, Bentley and a little gift
The food did not disappoint!!!! Highly recommend, Michael went with the burger and the salted caramel waffle for pudding, I went with the pork belly and the apple and blackberry crumble. Everyone’s plates were scraped clean, absolutely delicious!
It also had a dog friendly section with a log burner , so Bentley could also join in the fun, and bag himself a couple of spare chips!
In true Peter and Claire style, they had picked up a present for the dog/caravan, which we put up straight away! Almost like the spot was made for it!

We had said our goodbyes and settled in for the evening, turns out we had the site to ourselves! Bliss! Ready for the adventures to continue tomorrow!
