For those who don’t identify as a Swiftie, yes that is a Taylor Swift lyric.
After a patchy nights sleep for me, ironically a better one for Michael and the dog, we headed to a retail park to pick up some essentials – treats for the dog and food for the humans. Before heading north to the lakes for an overdue catch up with our friends.

Northbound
20 miles on a free flowing M1 followed by 40 miles on a slightly more congested M62 (highest motorway in the UK don’t you know 🤓), humbugs and boiled sweets being issued on demand as our ears popped the further north we went!
All those miles meant stopping at Costco for fuel, no we didn’t buy anything other than premium (fancy) diesel which was £1.29 a litre! Bargain up north!
Michael also felt like it was an appropriate time to use the van loo as Costco toilets were closed! I’ll let you guys guess what he was doing 🤪

A long overdue catch-up
Back on the road and onto the M6! How many motorways in just one day! Another 40 miles before a long overdue catch up!
Jen and Ant, we’ve been friends since we met on a random haybale in a random field when we all agreed to volunteer at a Spartan event in 2018. Such warm and friendly people that we have been so grateful to call our friends for the last 6 years. They moved to a village not far from Morecambe early this year and we have been dying to catch up with them ever since.
Ironically the weekend we met we met these beautiful humans also started with a Friday the 13th 👀 how spooky! They are such genuine lovely people whom we share so much in common, so what better to mark the reunion than with a walk up Warton Crag which ended with burger and pints at the Old School Brewery in Warton.
Warton Crag

The views were stunning, we could see for miles. And yes there were random mountain cows!

On and Michael played with his drone.
Burgers and beers
We wandered down to the pub and what a beautiful place it was – rustic atmosphere, dog friendly and the food was awesome plus the beers/ales are made on site, can’t get more local than that!

We chatted the night away over beers and hit the hay ready for the border crossing tomorrow.
