The First Caravanning Adventure

A slow Saturday

And not just for the morning, the entire day – we are very proud of how lazy we have been, it’s been utterly deserved! Unfortunately, it doesn’t make for a very interesting blog but that’s life!

The sun also heard that we were having a lazy day and joined us, our first full overcast day since our holiday began (eyes remaining peeled for the weather next week at our next destination)!

A properly slow morning

We laid in bed for a while longer than usual this trip, before slowly rising to our usual coffee and Michael then got to work making his famous breakfast (albeit closer to brunch) and then we continued our lazy start.

All for good reason, 74,793 steps between Tuesday to Friday is enough to need to put our feet up!

A few errands in Castleton

So we lazed and we lazed and we lazed until the dog had finally had enough and needed to be walked, so we put our comfy trainers on (although nothing is comfy for Michael at the minute) and decided to mooch into the village to carry out a few errands.

Firstly, Michael needed to collect his Amazon parcel from the post office (oh Amazon, can’t even go a week without you, albeit you were brining much needed tax for Michael’s feet!) we wanted to refill our milk and get burger buns. Always something to be done!

So we started walking, the same route we have taken near on every day since we got here, and saw a new sign saying ‘Castleton Farm Shop’ so we decided to follow it!

It was only a small shop but there must have been a good 30/40 cars parked outside so we had a nose around and bought our burger buns and a pork pie – can’t get either much fresher than that!

We then carried on our walk into the village. The closer we got the more obvious it became that it was a Saturday! There were people everywhere, from the quiet village we had experienced all week to now the hustle and bustle of people!

We contemplated going to the pub for a drink in the garden but there simply wasn’t room! So we refilled our milk and headed back to site to carry on with our day of relaxation!

Cards, tortoises and packing up

We did our usual, played cards (for the first time this trip I absolutely thrashed Michael and I am in no rush to let him forget it), relaxed, wrote the blog, relaxed some more and then played eye spy with the new arrivals – a first for both of us when someone new was unpacking and we noticed that they had brought their pet tortoise!

It then got to the point in the afternoon where we couldn’t decide if it was going to rain or not, but for ease we decided to pack up the awning and all its contents.

We then showered and packed up what we could of the inside of the caravan, such as clothes, just to make leaving tomorrow slightly easier as we were aiming to leave at 10am to get slightly ahead of the traffic.

And with only 8,298 steps for the day; we settled in for the evening!

To new adventures tomorrow!
